Position Overview:
The primary areas of responsibility for this position include creation of
the Master Production Schedule (MPS), inventory planning control for
finished and raw materials, integration of production capacity and resource
planning, coordination of product distribution and logistics activities,
integration support for new product and process introductions, and ownership
of the Logistics Management process and systems implementation This position
reports to the Logistics Resource Director.
This position
provides technical best practice knowledge and expertise in a team
environment along with the Logistics Resource Director in the development
and proactive management of Department's Logistics Resource Planning
function. Through close collaboration with operations, marketing and
supply-chain management as partners and customers, this group is the focal
point for ensuring customer sales demands are translated into executable
production and logistics plans that achieve Department’s business
objectives.
The incumbent will
be a team member in the Logistics Resource Planning group and will be
required to work with a variety of global groups (e.g. Operations,
Marketing, Supply Chain, etc.) in a broad range of logistics resource
planning activities. Example activities would include: collaboratively
working with regional sales staff and plant in establishing the monthly
Master Production Schedule; tracking and following-up on action plans with
plant and sales team members as well as the reporting of key results and
critical issues to Business Management leadership. They will work with the
Logistics Resource manager in the creation of business strategies and
improvement initiatives required to achieve world-class Logistics Resource
Planning performance.
Must have
excellent team building and collaborative skills. Coordination and liaison
within sales, operations, logistics, order processing, and finance, will be
essential in the development and delivery of an effective logistics resource
planning service. It is important that the individual have specific master
production planning experience with some operational and/or sales/marketing
knowledge. Broad experience would be preferred with an understanding and/or
degree in supply-chain operations, coupled with working knowledge of
Logistics/ERP software systems.
Must be able to
conceptualize the systems impact of both tactical and operational decisions,
including inter-relationship with financial and strategic business
objectives. A customer focused delivery of a suite of logistics management
services integrated within Department is critical to group success.
Requirements:
Degree in engineering, industrial management, supply chain management or
equivalent with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in manufacturing
and/or distribution. MBA in Supply chain Management preferred Working
knowledge of Manugistics, Alpine, SAP or equivalent production scheduling
system is required. Prior experience should include a background in DRP,
